Lipid metabolism

The Clinical and Applied Lipidomics for Metabolism Research Group investigates the role of lipids, particularly ceramides and cholesterol, in cardiometabolic, liver, and neurodegenerative diseases. Its activities integrate basic, translational, and clinical research, with a strong focus on the identification of biomarkers and the development of advanced lipidomics and metabolomics methodologies using mass spectrometry.

The group is supported by competitive national funding, has a strong international scientific publication record, and is currently developing a patent. In addition, it contributes to the Lipidomic and Proteomic Characterization Unit (UCA-CLP) and maintains strategic collaborations at both the national and international levels.
