  1. Cruz AJ, Volkert D. Malnutrition in Older Adults. N Engl J Med. 2025;392(22): 2244-2255. DOI:10.1056/NEJMra2412275. Review article in NEJM (Q1/D1, highest global impact, IF 78.5). It is noteworthy for demonstrating that the group is an international leader in geriatric nutrition, with invited articles in high-impact journals.
  2. Leadership of researchers from the group in intramural grant programs for research projects of junior researchers, clinical associates, and/or emerging groups at the Ramón y Cajal University Hospital: (1) Multimodal approach to sarcopenia and its prognostic impact in elderly patients hospitalized for acute heart failure (MUSICA Study) - Code: IMP-25. Geriatrics-Internal Medicine Collaboration. PI: Montero Errasquín and Pérez Nieva and (2) Efficacy of AI-assisted hospital physiotherapy with real-time feedback in frail patients with hip fractures. Salgado Alba 2025 Clinical Area Award granted by the Spanish Society of Geriatrics and Gerontology for the best oral communication in poster format in the clinical area presented at the 65th National Congress of Geriatrics and Gerontology with the title: "Reliability and diagnostic capacity of the Eforto dynamometer versus the Jamar model dynamometer in the evaluation of grip strength." June 2025.
  4. Completion of the AEQUI study and publication of the results in a Q1 journal in the field of infectious diseases: Veronese N et al. Measuring the impact of hospitalization for infectious diseases on the quality of life of older patients in four European countries: the AEQUI longitudinal matched cohort study (2020-2023). Clin Microbiol Infect. 2025 May;31(5):847-854. doi: 10.1016/j.cmi.2025.01.009. This study has led to a collaboration with the Department of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases for reanalysis of the database and a doctoral thesis.
  5. Award of the European project "SONETTO. Sarcopenic Obesity prevention by Nutrition, Exercise and Technology to prevent Overreliance on secondary care" led by Dr. Cruz and in collaboration with Primary Care, funded by the Transforming Health and Care Systems (THCS) Joint Call Secretariat (JCS) Call 2025, through the ISCIII (Carlos III Health Institute).
