STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES

  • Further study of cardiovascular risk, hormonal, metabolic and nutritional alterations associated with severe obesity and their resolution and/or evolution after metabolic/bariatric surgery.
  • To advance in the development and evolution of techniques in digestive oncological surgery, oesophago-gastric pathology, abdominal wall and pancreatic surgery, as well as in innovative surgical approaches (laparoscopy, robotics, etc.).
  • Research diagnostic and therapeutic aspects of gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumours and adrenal tumours, as well as their surgical treatment using modern techniques.
  • Research on novel aspects of artificial nutrition in patients with intestinal insufficiency, oncological patients, especially in tumours of the digestive tract or with repercussions on the digestive tract.
  • Define strategies for the optimisation of the use of artificial nutrition, enteral and parenteral, in the treatment of malnutrition associated with illness in the hospital context, especially in oncological and surgical patients.

RESEARCH LINES

  • Metabolic surgery on obesity-associated comorbidities.
  • Malnutrition and nutritional support.
