TAKING FLIGHT AWARD 2026

A través de esta convocatoria se pretende apoyar a investigadores/as que tengan una trayectoria destacada, para que puedan afianzar sus propias líneas de investigación y optar a futuras subvenciones como investigadores/as independientes. Se financiará durante 8 meses un proyecto de investigación, básica o clínica, relacionado con la epilepsia, su tratamiento y prevención.

Se dará preferencia a estudios colaborativos con un enfoque multidisciplinario y no se financiarán ensayos clínicos.

• Áreas prioritarias:
  • Transformative research to enhance our understanding of the cellular, molecular, genetic, and systems-level mechanisms that lead to any of the epilepsies, facilitating the continued investigation of disease-modifying or preventative strategies.
  • Innovative approaches that can prevent, modify and/or arrest the development of acquired epilepsy. Examples include epilepsy that develops after stroke, tumor, traumatic brain injury or infection, including febrile infection-related epilepsy syndrome (FIRES) as        well as newonset refractory status-epilepticus (NORSE).
  • Research that will inform the development of novel therapies to prevent onset or halt the progression of severe pediatric epilepsies.
  • Research focused on new, effective treatments for the >30% of the epilepsy population who are pharmacoresistant.
  • Novel research that furthers our understanding of the causes and ultimate elimination of SUDEP.
  • Translational, clinical, and clinically informed basic research that will facilitate understanding of the cellular-, molecular-, and systems-level mechanisms that underlie the relationships between sleep and epilepsy.
• Áreas con menor prioridad:
  • Research that focuses solely on a comorbid condition without also seeking to understand the accompanying epilepsy.
  • Research that focuses solely on improving localization of the epileptic seizure focus.

Requirements

Los/as investigadores/as solicitantes podrán ser:

• Postdoctorales con un mínimo de dos años de experiencia postdoctoral.
• Profesores/as ayudantes doctores/as con un/a mentor/a que asesore al/a la solicitante.
• Clínicos/as que lleven mínimo dos años de facultativo.
• Clínicos/as residentes de neurología con interés por investigar sobre epilepsia.

Request

La solicitud se realizará a través de la plataforma de solicitud (ver enlace) en dos fases:

1. Envío de expresiones de interés: antes del 06/01/2026 (envío de carta de intención que incluya en dos páginas un resumen científico de la propuestas y posible continuidad del proyecto).
2. Envío de propuestas completas: antes del 26/03/2026.
