IRYCIS breaks records in EU-project applications, diversity of programmes and leadership

The European research and innovation landscape is characterized by its strong commitment to collaboration, innovation and excellence. One of the European Commision flagship programmes it is R&D Frame Programme. Currently, the active one it is named Horizon Europe (2021-2027) and wants institutions across the continent to join forces to address global challenges, foster technological breakthroughs and promote sustainable development.
Within this international dynamic ecosystem, IRYCIS has achieved a historic milestone, breaking records in both the number of applications submitted and the diversity of proposals presented to European programs.
With 32 project proposals submitted and around 13 M€ requested in funding, IRYCIS demonstrates its strategic commitment to European research programs. The following charts illustrate the scope and diversity of this participation.

This chart illustrates the diversity of European programs in which IRYCIS has actively participated. From flagship initiatives such as Horizon Europe to specialized calls under EU4Health and other partnerships, this distribution reflects our institute ability to adapt and contribute to multiple strategic areas. Such variety ensures that IRYCIS remains at the forefront of innovation, leveraging opportunities across different funding schemes to maximize impact. Notably, IRYCIS acted as coordinator in a 25 % of the total of the proposals sent, demonstrating our leadership and capacity, building strong partnerships and being a reliable collaborator.
Also, almost every IRYCIS area led proposals sent this year, reflecting the Institute's comprehensive approach to biomedical research and ensuring contributions to address complex health challenges ad improving patient outcomes.

This achievement reflects IRYCIS unwavering commitment to advancing science through international cooperation and multidisciplinary approaches. By engaging in European projects, IRYCIS not only strengthens its leadership in biomedical research but also fosters an environment where diverse perspectives and expertise converge to address global health challenges.
Looking ahead, through IRYCIS Boosting European Research (IBER) program, we remain focused on strengthening partnerships, promoting knowledge exchange and leveraging European funding opportunities to accelerate transformative research and continue to shape the future of biomedical science and deliver tangible benefits to society. In our webpage, both IRYCIS participation in EU-funded actions and the International Projects team can be found.
